Saute beef and onions in butter, cook macaroni in usual way, add melted cheese to saute; add tomato puree, add mushrooms, include liquid from mushrooms, salt, pepper, garlic to taste. Mix with macaroni, stir constantly until well mixed. Better if allowed to cool and reheated before serving. Cold Burgundy adds finishing touch.
