Gewürtzplätzchen (Spice Cookies)

Cream the butter, add sugar and then egg. Then stir everything else in together. Knead into a dough on a board. Take a portion and roll it out on light flour, and then use cookie cutters to shape. Bake at 350 - when you touch them and they yield, they're OK. (~5-10 min?) You don't want them too moist, just a little bit moist, e.g. a toothpick comes out dry.

Cool on cooling sheets, and when they've cooled some put on the frosting.
